Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Ranger within the Planning & Environment Department to enforce Local Laws, manage regulatory parking, and supervise Animal Management Services in alignment with governance and industry best practice.

The role requires a Certificate IV in an investigatory or animal management discipline, animal handling skills, a current Queensland C Class licence, and an authorised Implanter qualification. Experience as a Ranger or in a similar role is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant Certificate IV in an investigatory or animal management discipline or obtain within an agreed period.
• Minimum 12 months experience as a Ranger or equivalent.
• Animal handling experience.
• Current Queensland C Class driver's licence.
• Relevant gun licence or willingness to obtain.
• Authorised Implanter (microchipping) qualification.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking robust investigations of alleged offences and permit applications under Local Laws and relevant legislation.
• Make rigorous decisions to achieve outcomes in line with regulatory requirements and council policies.
• Gather evidence, prepare reports, briefs of evidence, and represent Council in court as a witness.
