Job summary

Murweh Shire Council invites applications for a Compliance Officer to oversee local laws, animal management, food safety, pool safety and development compliance in the Murweh region. You will work with council teams and the community, reading legislation, preparing compliant reports, notices and correspondence while building positive relationships and guiding health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.

The role requires independent work, strong organisation, and the ability to prioritise deadlines

Qualifications

• Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
• Current Queensland Firearms Licence (or ability to obtain).
• Experience handling domestic animals and livestock.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply relevant legislation and Local Laws.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations.
• Proven ability to prepare clear compliance reports, notices and correspondence.
• High-level organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and relevant compliance/records systems.

We're after a professional, community-minded person with strong communication skills, someone who can build positive relationships and confidently support Council's health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.

What you'll need — Essential:

• Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
• Current Queensland Firearms Licence (or ability to obtain)

Nice to have — Desirable:

• Certificate IV in Government Investigations Regulatory Compliance (or similar)
• Knowledge of building legislation (Building Act, Building Code of Australia, Planning Act) and local government compliance functions
• Previous experience in local government or regulatory enforcement
• Experience using Body Worn Cameras
• Experience conducting investigations and enforcement actions relating to compliance
