Job summary

Uniting NSW.ACT is seeking a compassionate Bus Driver / Carer for the Sydney Metro region. The role combines professional driving with hands-on care, transporting residents and clients to locations, appointments and outings with dignity, respect and safety as guiding principles.

You will support mobility, safety, and daily activities, including personal care, during journeys and outings. A current LR licence and a Certificate III in Aged Care or similar are required, along with First Aid and

Qualifications

• Current LR (1B) Driver’s Licence.
• Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support.
• Proven experience and reliability in bus driving.
• Genuine commitment to supporting frail older people and people with disability.
• Experience or willingness to support people with dementia and challenging behaviours.
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely transporting residents and clients between homes, Uniting locations and community activities.
• Driving clients on outings and assisting with planning of activities.
• Helping residents safely enter and exit the bus.
• Providing mobility assistance, including support with wheelchairs.
• Supervising clients throughout journeys and outings and ensuring safety and comfort.
• Providing personal care and support, including toileting and hygiene assistance.
• Assisting with meals and teas during outings.
• Reporting servicing, repairs, hazards or safety concerns promptly.
