Job summary

Terrey Hills Boarding Kennels & Cattery in Sydney's Northern Beaches seeks an animal care assistant to help with kennels, cat pens, exercise yards and daily duties.

You will follow care instructions, assist with medication, monitor health and keep accurate records while helping with arrivals and departures. Training will be provided; reliability and safety are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Reliability and punctuality are essential for daily care tasks.
• Confidence around dogs and cats, including large dogs.
• Careful attention to cleaning, care instructions and animal behaviour.
• Clear communication and willingness to report problems.
• Ability to follow procedures and work cooperatively.
• Responsible approach to animal welfare and workplace safety.
• Able to perform essential duties safely, including standing for long periods and using cleaning equipment.
• Experience in animal care is welcome but not essential; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning kennels, cat pens, exercise yards and shared areas, including removing animal waste, hosing and disinfecting.
• Moving dogs safely between their kennels and exercise yards.
• Preparing and providing food and fresh water.
• Following individual care instructions and assisting with medication as trained and directed.
• Watching for changes in animals' health, behaviour or appetite and promptly reporting concerns.
• Keeping care records accurate and helping with daily arrivals and departures.
• Handling large, strong dogs on a lead, including dogs weighing over 50 kg, following handling procedures and seeking assistance when needed.
