Job summary

Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) seeks a dedicated Home Care Aide to provide direct in-home care for eligible elderly Indigenous clients in the Sunshine Coast region. You will support daily living activities, assist with showering, grooming, meals, transport and domestic tasks, following individual care plans and safeguarding guidelines.

  • Minimum Certificate III in Aged Care or relevant qualification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Disability Worker Screening Check (we will assist the successful candidate in applying).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general client care, including personal care, domestic assistance, social support, respite, meals and transport.
  • Provide daily assistance to clients to help them maintain independence at home.
  • Provide personal care to clients in their homes according to care plans and SOPs.
  • Provide domestic and social support services as required.
  • Deliver quality care at all times.

About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The focus of IUIH Aged Care team is to work with the local Indigenous community and relevant key stakeholders to increase access to comprehensive care and provide well-coordinated, quality in home care services to eligible aged care clients.

About the Role?
The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct care to the eligible aged members of the community in their homes. The position provides assistance with tasks such as showering, toileting, dressing and shaving. This role also includes domestic assistance, social support, meal preparation and shopping. The role will be required to perform in accordance with Client Care plans, the Community Care Common Standards and the IUIH Policies and Procedures.

Your day to day duties will include:

  • Assist with general client care, including undertake personal care, domestic assistance, social support, respite, meals and transport activities
  • Provide daily assistance to clients by supporting them to maintain their independence to remain in their own home
  • Provide personal care assistance to clients in their homes, according to the assessed needs as specified in their care plans (eg bathing, showering, grooming, nutrition, oral hygiene), in line with level of Certification and standard operating procedures
  • Provide domestic assistance and social support services to clients if required
  • Provide quality care at all times

About You?

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Minimum Certificate III in Aged Care or relevant qualification
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card) (we will assist the successful candidate in applying and covering the cost of this)

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
