Job summary

ConnectAbility Australia Limited in Newcastle, NSW is seeking dedicated Community Support Workers to join our casual team. You will assist individuals to live independently, access their communities and participate in social and vocational activities with a person-centred approach.

We value compassionate, reliable team players with strong communication skills who can work autonomously, maintain accurate records and adapt to flexible hours across early mornings to evenings.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Disability or relevant experience.
  • Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (minimum P2) and comprehensive car insurance.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain before commencement.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (paid worker).
  • Good computer skills and demonstrated ability to use IT systems.
  • Reliable smartphone.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community access and support participation in social, recreational, civic and vocational activities.
  • Engage with and support individuals using a person-centred approach and ensure that people using the service access services and support that respect their goals, strengths and needs.
  • Assist customers to develop skills, build capacity and actively participate in all aspects of life including activities of daily living, personal and health care, household management and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate customer records to ensure individualised support.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with customers, families, caregivers, and key stakeholders.

For over 30 years, ConnectAbility Australia has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by connecting them to meaningful communities, resources, and services. Founded by passionate community members in Newcastle in 1992, we’ve grown into a leading not-for-profit service provider throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Hunter Region, and the Central Coast.

In 2023, we proudly merged with Early Links, specialists in allied health and early intervention teaching who support over 1,400 children and youth.

Together, we support almost 1,800 individuals of all ages, empowering them to achieve their goals and dreams.

The Opportunity

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Community Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis. In this role, you will support individuals to live independently and participate in their community, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
