Job summary

Allambi Care in New South Wales is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for part-time or casual roles across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions. The role focuses on assisting individuals with disabilities and young people, using person-centred active support to build daily living skills.

You will work to empower participants with complex needs, support community involvement, and ensure safe, respectful care with a flexible roster and ongoing mentoring.

Qualifications

• Essential credentials include Working with Children Check and NDIS checks.
• Current First Aid, Police Check and a valid driver’s licence required.
• Access to a vehicle and comprehensive insurance is needed.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with people in care and provide personalised support.
• Deliver around-the-clock care following individual routines.
• Assist with transporting participants to school, programs and appointments.
• Support participation in development programs and community activities.
• Document report writing and progress notes.

About The Role

The Support Worker plays a vital role in fostering a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for individuals living with disabilities, children, and young people in the care of Allambi Care. Through tailored person-centred active support, this role empowers participants and young people, including those with complex needs, to develop daily living skills, engage in community activities, and build their capacity for greater independence and inclusivity, ultimately helping them achieve their goals.

Your Daily Tasks Can Include

• Building a relationship with the people you are caring for.
• Providing around the clock care to participants, following a structured routine developed specifically for their needs, including personal care.
• Administering medication.
• Transporting the people in our care to and from school, day programs and appointments.
• Assist in the implementation of programs designed for the development of the client.
• Report writing.

About You

To be successful in the role you will need to meet the following Essential Criteria

• Current Working with Children Check (for paid employment - can be obtained via https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check)
• Current NDIS Worker Check: (can be obtained via https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/ndiswc-apply)
• Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid; Course Code HLTAID011)
• National Police Check (this must be obtained via https://www.employmentscreeninggroup.com/au/allambi/)
• A current driver’s licence (minimum of a P2)
• A vehicle that can transport upwards of 4 people
• Comprehensive Car Insurance
• Certificate of Completion: NDIS Worker Orientation Module (can be accessed via: https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/)
• Ability to work a 7-day shift work roster
• Willingness to participate in pre-employment medical checks
• Two professional references

Preferrable (but Not Essential)

• Obtained or engaged in Certificate 4 Disability, or Disability Support or equivalent, or Certificate 3 Individual Support, or Certificate 3 Aged Care
• Minimum of 6 months previous experience in the sector
