Job summary

SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre Inc is a not-for-profit community hub based in Drysdale, Victoria. We are seeking a Community Worker to support delivery and development of local programs and services while responding to community needs.

The role combines direct community support with program coordination, engagement, referrals, administration and liaison with local organisations. A Diploma in Community Services or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in community services or related field.
• Experience in community services, development, or neighbourhood housing.
• Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Ability to identify community needs and connect people with services/resources.
• Experience planning and delivering community programs/events.
• Strong written and verbal communication; good record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Respond to enquiries from community members and identify information and support options.
• Help access local health, welfare, housing, education, employment services.
• Provide information and referrals while maintaining confidentiality.
• Develop programs, activities and responses to emerging community needs.
• Assist with planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of programs/events.
• Support education, social connection and participation for diverse groups.
• Liaise with local organisations, schools, government agencies and service providers.
• Build community networks and collaborative relationships.
• Assist with grants, funding submissions, reporting and evaluations.
• Maintain records and undertake administrative duties for programs.
