Job summary

Northern Rivers Community Gateway is seeking a compassionate Community Engagement and Support Officer in Kyogle. You will provide intake, information and referrals to individuals and families, and assist access to services while promoting social inclusion.

The role supports community activities, builds relationships with local organisations and emphasises trauma-informed, person-centred approaches within a welcoming, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centred approaches.
• Experience in client intake, community engagement or supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with diverse communities.
• Sound administrative and computer skills (Microsoft Office, client management systems).

Responsibilities

• Providing client intake, initial assessments, information and referrals to individuals and families seeking support.
• Assisting clients to access community services, government assistance and other relevant support programs.
• Providing practical assistance, brief interventions and appropriate follow-up to clients.
• Supporting the planning and delivery of community activities, workshops and events.
• Building positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, local service providers and community organisations.
• Promoting community participation, social inclusion and wellbeing through local initiatives.
• Assisting with day-to-day operation of the Kyogle Neighbourhood Centre, including reception and administrative duties.
• Maintaining accurate client records, case notes and program documentation.
