Job summary

The Outpost Inc. in Geelong is seeking an Engagement & Operations Lead who will coordinate daily food service routines, rostering and volunteer engagement, balancing hospitality with nonprofit administration.

This hands-on role supports the Board, oversees rosters for 130+ volunteers, develops menus, manages stock and stock rotation, and liaises with donors and partners to strengthen community impact. The position is part-time (25–30 hours) with flexible scheduling and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Non-judgmental, empathetic and community‑minded with a service mindset.
• Ability to work independently with an organised schedule of tasks.
• Strong communication, administrative and computer literacy skills.
• Experience in volunteer coordination and hospitality management is highly valued.
• Current Victorian driver’s license and access to a car.
• Valid Police Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Food Safety Supervisor Certification.
• Experience in nonprofit administration or stakeholder engagement is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Office Coordination: respond to inquiries via phone, email, social media and other platforms with prompt, accurate communication.
• Actively create a consistent social media presence aligned with organisational goals.
• Roster and Volunteer Coordination: administer rosters for 130+ volunteers via the online roster portal.
• Conduct interviews, onboarding and induction for volunteers and support active volunteers during operations.
• Food Provision: coordinate collection and/or delivery of food and donations from various sources.
• Oversee weekly procurement, stock, and packaging; rotate stock weekly per food safety standards.
• Design weekly menus and recipe guides for volunteer cooks and manage stock rotation.
• Facility oversight: maintenance of facilities, infrastructure and building repairs.
• Public relations: liaise with the broader community, promote the mission and initiatives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with donors, partner organisations, schools and sponsors.
• Represent The Outpost at external meetings and community events.
• Produce monthly and quarterly newsletters for community stakeholders.
• Support end‑to‑end grant applications with the Board and coordinate logistics for events.
