Job summary

MCCI invites applications for a Team Leader – Community Development in Wollongong. You will lead a team delivering settlement, community development and engagement activities with refugee communities, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery aligned with policies.

The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, staff support, and advising the General Manager. You bring empathy, organisation and strong communication, with a commitment to empowering diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in leadership or team supervision.
• Diploma in Social Work, Community Services, Social Sciences or related field.
• Experience coordinating diverse staff and volunteers, including with lived experience.
• Understanding of barriers affecting refugee and CALD communities.
• Experience with client management systems, data reporting and documentation.
• Strong communication, time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Empathy, cultural awareness and human-centred practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and support to staff and volunteers delivering settlement and community development programs.
• Ensure programs are delivered safely, effectively and aligned with policies and standards.
• Strengthen stakeholder relationships and advise the General Manager.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and reporting.
