Job summary

The Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking a confident Compliance Officer to join our Community Safety team in a full- or part-time, permanent role.

The position focuses on responding to wandering livestock, safe handling and transport, investigation of animal management matters, and working with landowners to resolve concerns. Training will be provided, with flexible hours and generous leave entitlements.

The role will:

Do you have practical experience handling cattle, sheep, horses or other livestock? Perhaps you have worked on a farm, in a saleyard, within animal welfare or agriculture and are looking for a new career where your experience will make a genuine difference.

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking a confident and community-minded Compliance Officer to join our Community Safety team.

What you'll be doing:

Responding to wandering and impounded livestock

Safely handling and transporting animals

Investigating animal management and Local Law matters

Working with landowners to resolve fencing and livestock concerns

Promoting responsible animal ownership

Gathering evidence, preparing reports and undertaking enforcement where required

Supporting the community through education and practical problem-solving

Previous local government experience would be beneficial but is not essential. We are particularly interested in applicants with practical livestock-handling experience, sound judgement and the confidence to work calmly around large animals and with members of the community.

Who we're looking for:

Experience safely handling cattle, sheep, horses or other livestock

An understanding of animal behaviour, welfare and husbandry

Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills

The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in the field

Good written and computer skills

An interest in learning regulatory investigation and enforcement

Training and support will be provided to help the successful applicant develop their knowledge of Council procedures and relevant legislation.
