Job summary

Kanda is seeking Disability Support Workers to assist a woman in Moss Vale, Bowral and the Southern Highlands. The role centers on capacity-building, encouraging the person to do as much as possible, with prompting and guidance where needed.

The position may include a short-term trial in a community living setting and training prior to commencement. Shifts are community-based, focusing on development of skills and independence, with collaboration with an OT and broader support team.

Qualifications

• Must be patient, approachable and able to build genuine rapport.
• Ability to provide prompting and encouragement without taking over.
• Support development of skills and independence in community and daily activities.
• Experience with capacity-building goals or brain injury support is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation, shopping, household tasks, routines and community access.
• Support participation in community and everyday activities to build confidence and independence.
