Job summary

City of Perth is seeking a Communications Officer to support internal and external communications for projects, campaigns and services. You will develop content for website, intranet, newsletters and social channels, and help coordinate campaigns with stakeholders.

Reporting to the Media and Communications Lead, you will assist with media activities, research, scheduling and reporting, and ensure timely, accurate, accessible communications.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related discipline, and/or relevant communications experience.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with ability to turn complex information into clear messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, relationship management and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Developing clear and engaging content for the City’s website, intranet, newsletters, social media, publications and other corporate channels.
  • Supporting the delivery of communications plans, campaigns and initiatives, including coordinating activities and preparing materials.
  • Assisting with media and project coordination, including research, monitoring, scheduling and reporting.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and support timely delivery of communications activities.

The Opportunity

As a Communications Officer at the City ofPerth, you will support the delivery of internal and externalcommunications that promote the City’s projects, programs andservices. You will develop engaging content for a range ofchannels, assist with campaigns and media activities, and work withstakeholders to deliver timely, accurate and accessiblecommunications.

Reporting to the Media and CommunicationsLead within our Marketing and Communications team, yourresponsibilities would primarily include:

  • Developing clear and engaging content for the City’swebsite, intranet, newsletters, social media, publications andother corporate channels;
  • Supporting the delivery of communications plans, campaignsand initiatives, including coordinating activities andpreparing materials;
  • Assisting with media and project coordination, includingresearch, monitoring, scheduling, approvals and reporting;and
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to gatherinformation and support the timely delivery of communicationsactivities.
About You

To succeed in this role, you willpossess:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, publicrelations, journalism, marketing or a related discipline,and/or relevant communications experience;
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the abilityto turn complex information into clear and accurate messagingfor diverse audiences;

Previous experience in a corporatecommunications environment will be highly regarded.
