The Sherwood Service Club Inc., trading as WestsideHQ, is seeking a full-time Commis Chef to join our kitchen at Corinda, QLD 4075. You’ll work with our Head Chef and senior chefs across bistro, restaurant and function service in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.

• At least 1 year of full-time experience as a Commis Chef or Cook in a commercial kitchen.
• Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work in a high-volume bistro, restaurant and function environment.
• Availability for rostered weekend and split shifts.

Responsabilidades

• Running an allocated kitchen section and preparing and cooking dishes to the required quality and presentation standards.
• Monitoring dish quality at every stage of preparation and presentation.
• Helping the Head Chef plan menus, develop recipes and design function and event menus.
• Estimating food quantities and costs, and contributing to portion control and wastage reduction.
• Ordering supplies, checking deliveries against quality and specification, and managing stock levels and rotation.
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising apprentices, cooks and kitchen hands on food preparation and procedures.
• Discussing food preparation, dietary requirements and allergen issues with management, function staff and kitchen staff.
• Explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety rules within the section.
• Preparing, freezing and preserving food in line with food safety requirements.
• Helping train new kitchen staff

Job Description

The Sherwood Service Club Inc. trading as WestsideHQ is recruiting a full-time Commis Chef to join our growing kitchen team at Corinda QLD 4075. Earlier this year we finished upgrading our function rooms and commercial kitchen, and function and bistro bookings are growing quickly. We’re looking for a team player with experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen to work with our Head Chef and senior chefs on bistro, restaurant and function service.

Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation, negotiable based on skills and experience.

Essential skills and experience:

• Qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
• At least 1 year of full-time (or equivalent) experience as a Commis Chef or Cook in a commercial kitchen
• Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work in a high-volume bistro, restaurant and function environment
