Job summary

The Star Sydney is seeking a Commis Chef to work closely with the Sous Chefs and Chef de Cuisine in a fast-paced, hands-on kitchen. The role emphasizes precision, creativity, safety, and quality in a dynamic environment.

You’ll contribute to Oasis Dining and the commissary kitchen, supporting training, food prep, and station cleanliness while adapting to a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Culinary School Graduate. Received apprenticeship training in commercial cookery.
• Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment.
• Successfully completed a Commercial Cookery Apprenticeship, gaining comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, particularly in café, hotel, or high-volume settings, along with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of relevant liquor laws.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, and public holidays.

• Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Chef De Cuisine and provide training to junior staff members
• Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations

Our Oasis lounge and dining area is an inviting sanctuary away from the hustle & bustle of the Main Gaming Floor. Dedicated peace and serene lounge areas to relax and dine in comfort. It’s a hub of teamwork and culinary craftsmanship that powers this private gaming area.

This is a permanent full-time position, and full Australian working rights are essential.
