Job summary

The Star Sydney is seeking a Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen, reporting to the Sous Chef. This hands-on role focuses on flawless execution, safety, and culinary excellence in a vibrant, fast-paced environment.

You will support the section, train junior staff, prep and cook fundamentals, maintain clean stations, and ensure high quality across Asian and Western cuisines. A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and roster flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in fine dining or casual dining settings.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher).
• Flexibility to rotate rosters including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members.
• Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations.
• Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements.

What we are looking for:

• Experience working within fine dining or casual dining settings.
• Experience with Asian & Western cuisines
• Must have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
