Delaware North Australia is seeking a casual Commis Chef to join the Banquets team at Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, NT. You will collaborate with senior chefs to create dishes that impress and contribute to a vibrant kitchen atmosphere.

Role requires previous Commis Chef experience, a solid kitchen operations background, and a willingness to obtain Level 3 Commercial Cookery and Food Safety certificates on onboarding. Flexible to work evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

• Previous Commis Chef experience is required and a la carte/ function service experience is preferred.
• Solid background in kitchen operations.
• Willing to obtain Level 3 Cookery and Food Safety certificates if not already held.
• Able to work a 7-day roster including evenings/nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards.
• Execute food preparation tasks with focus on presentation and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area.
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, including temperature and quality checks.

As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for collaborating with senior chefs to create dishes that make a lasting impression. What will you do?

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination

More about you

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred
• Solid background in kitchen operations
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding
• A passion for food and creative flair
• Able to work across a 7-day roster including evenings/nights, weekends and public holidays
