Job summary

Pullman East Melbourne is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Full-Time Commis Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. You will assist with preparing ingredients, assisting with cooking and maintaining a clean workstation. Working under senior chefs, you’ll continue to develop your skills while contributing to smooth and efficient service.

Availability to work AM, PM and overnight shifts is essential, and full working rights in Australia are required.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience in a hotel or similar fast-paced environment.
• Exposure to à la carte service, highly regarded for restaurant service.
• A solid understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to stay organised under pressure.
• A positive and team-focused attitude with clear communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, take direction and continuously improve.
• Availability to work evening shifts and overnight shifts is essential.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes across à la carte, buffet, banqueting and room service.
• Support daily mise-en-place and kitchen prep to ensure service runs smoothly.
• Prepare ingredients and cook basic dishes under the direction of senior chefs.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver consistent and high-quality meals.
• Follow direction from senior chefs while building your technical skills and kitchen knowledge.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and support efficient service during busy periods.
