Mantra Melbourne Airport is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our kitchen team, learning from senior chefs and bringing a love for food, creativity and teamwork to the line. You will contribute to dish preparation, maintain high standards, and support service in a fast-paced environment.

We value flexibility, a commercial cookery certification or equivalent, safety awareness, and the ability to adapt to various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Recognised culinary training and employment experience.
• Commercial cookery certification; safe food handling certificate or food safety supervisor preferred.
• Ambition, raw talent and passion for food.
• Open to feedback and willing to experiment with new ideas.
• Thriving in a fast-paced team environment.
• Clear and articulate communication.
• Flexible availability for shifts including mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsabilités

Mantra Melbourne Airportis conveniently located a stone's throw away from Tullamarine International Airport. The property offers apartment-style hotel rooms, cosy one-bedroom suites, and the added convenience of interconnecting family suites. Featuring on-site, Woodlands Restaurant & Bar and 10 versatile event spaces with state-of-the-art facilities catering for up to 300 guests. Additionally, the hotel is just a short drive from the DFO, ideal for indulging in some retail therapy on your down time.

Purpose

As our Commis Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our team, learning from our experienced senior chefs, showcasing your unwavering love for food, creative spark, and strong teamwork abilities collaborating to create dishes that leave a lasting impression.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensuring that food presented to guests aligns with property standards and is served within designated timeframes, whilst maintaining high quality and presentation
• Stay diligent in adhering to local regulations related to health, safety, and compliance, with a solid grasp of HACCP management
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in preparing food items
• Receive ongoing training and guidance from senior chefs
• Handle a range of kitchen tasks, from dishwashing to crafting delectable dishes

Skills & Experience

• The possession of recognised culinary training and employment experience
• A commercial cookery certification and preferably, you will have obtained safe food handling certificate or food safety supervisor
• Someone who has ambition, raw talent, and a passion for food
• Being open to feedback and willing to experiment with new ideas is a big plus
• Thriving in a fast-paced team environment is key
• The ability to communicate in a clear and articulate manner
