Job summary

Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction Pty Limited is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead commercial activities on defence infrastructure projects in Australia. The role requires MRICS status or progression, 10+ years in construction commercial, relevant degree, and strong Excel skills. You will manage budgets, risk, contracts, and relationships with clients and supply chains to deliver complex programs.

Qualifications

  • MRICS or working towards MRICS.
  • Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience in commercial within the construction industry.
  • Construction/Building/Engineering degree or equivalent required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Australian citizenship and ability to obtain NV1 level Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive performance, margin and risk management for projects.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, cost control and reporting.
  • Manage commercial risk, change, claims, disputes and contract compliance.
  • Build strong client, stakeholder and supply chain relationships.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing commercial team.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across project delivery.

Key responsibilities

About you
  • Attained or working towards obtaining MRICS.
  • Minimum 10 years’ post graduate experience in commercial within the construction industry.
  • Construction Management, Building, Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Microsoft software especially Excel.
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
