Job summary

LexisNexis is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel - Pacific to provide practical, commercially focused advice across Australia and New Zealand. You will handle end-to-end matters, negotiation of complex agreements, and support AI-enabled product initiatives.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, manage disputes when needed and contribute to templates, training and knowledge sharing across the Pacific region.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' PQE and admission to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
• Strong commercial contracting experience, including drafting and negotiating.
• Experience in top-tier law firms or large corporate in-house teams.
• Ability to manage matters independently with good judgement.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Practical experience using generative AI tools in legal work.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (B2B, content licences, technology).
• Negotiate directly with customers, suppliers and other counterparties.
• Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice balancing risk and business goals.
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand.
• Support key projects and AI-enabled product initiatives; use AI/legal tech to improve delivery.
• Develop templates, playbooks and guidance for the wider business.
