Job summary

LexisNexis is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel – Pacific to provide practical, commercially focused advice across Australia and New Zealand, working at the intersection of law, technology and AI. You’ll negotiate contracts, assess risk, and help the business move forward with autonomy, tackling projects from content licensing to AI-enabled products.

Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll bring 5+ years’ PQE and admission to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
Strong commercial contracting experience, especially drafting, reviewing and negotiating.
Experience in a top-tier, national or international firm or large in-house team.
Ability to manage matters independently with sound judgement on escalation.
Experience using generative AI tools in legal work.

Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
Negotiate directly with customers, suppliers and counterparties.
Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice balancing risk and business goals.
Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand.
Support key projects and AI-enabled product initiatives.
Utilise AI for improved efficiency and quality in legal delivery.
Develop templates, playbooks and guidance for the business.
Deliver legal training and participate in clinics.
Support disputes and manage external counsel when needed.
Collaborate with Pacific and international legal teams.
