Job summary

Akaysha Energy pty, based in Melbourne, is seeking a Commercial Asset Manager to provide commercial and operational oversight across our growing BESS portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Asset Management, this hybrid role combines strategic oversight with hands-on management of assets in Australia and beyond.

You will lead performance reporting, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration to optimise value and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial, operational or asset management within energy or infrastructure.
• Strong contract management, negotiation and commercial skills.
• Experience supporting assets through operational readiness and handover.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the commercial and operational performance of BESS assets across multiple sites.
• Support projects from development through to operations, ensuring operational requirements are considered early.
• Manage operational contracts, budgets, suppliers and commercial obligations.
• Coordinate operational readiness as new assets transition from construction into operations.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to manage risk, compliance and asset performance.
• Lead operational reporting and support regulatory requirements, including AEMO, NGER and RET.
• Improve systems and processes that support a growing global asset portfolio.

We built the world’s most powerful battery, the 850MW Waratah Super Battery, and we’re continuing to grow our portfolio and the team behind it. We’re looking for a Commercial Asset Manager to provide commercial and operational oversight across our growing BESS portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Asset Management, this is a hybrid role based in our Melbourne office.

We're 200 people around the world with 40 GWh of projects moving through development across Australia, Japan, the US and Germany.

Akaysha build, own, and operate our assets. We don't hand a project to someone else once it's approved. The people who design a battery site are the same people who help build it, optimise it and solve the challenges that come with operating it every day.

What you’ll do

• Oversee the commercial and operational performance of BESS assets across multiple sites.

What you’ll bring

• Experience in commercial, operational or asset management within energy or infrastructure.
• Strong contract management, negotiation and commercial skills.
• Experience supporting assets through operational readiness and handover.
• Strong stakeholder management across technical and commercial teams.
• Experience with asset management and reporting systems such as CMMS, APM or DMS.
• An understanding of energy market, regulatory and compliance requirements.
