TOM People partnered with a leading Australian organisation to appoint a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst. Based in Sydney, you will act as a trusted financial partner to technology and business leaders, delivering insights and performance reporting across a fast-paced environment.

You will lead budgeting, forecasting and business case development, monitor project and capex performance, and drive cost optimisation and process improvements while supporting procurement decisions.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification with degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong commercial finance, financial modelling and business partnering capabilities.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting and business case development.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication, capable of influencing senior leaders.
• Analytical mindset focused on continuous improvement and commercial outcomes.
• Experience in technology, digital, IT or corporate environments preferred.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role acts as a trusted commercial partner to senior technology and business leaders, delivering financial insights, strategic analysis and performance management across a complex and fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, business case development, investment analysis and operational performance reporting while helping drive continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives across the Technology, Digital & Data function.

Role responsibilities:

• Partner with senior leaders to provide commercial insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, reporting and performance analysis activities.
• Develop business cases, financial models and investment evaluations.
• Monitor project and capital expenditure performance, providing actionable recommendations.
• Drive cost optimisation, process improvement and reporting enhancements.
• Support contract and procurement decisions through commercial analysis.
• Oversee offshore finance support resources and ensure delivery of key finance outcomes.

About you:

• CA or CPA qualified with tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial finance, financial modelling and business partnering capability.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting and business case development.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and commercial outcomes.
• Experience within technology, digital, IT or corporate environments will be highly regarded.
