Newly created commercial finance role reporting directly to the CFO
Join an established Australian business experiencing a period of growth
Opportunity to strengthen commercial finance capability and support business performance
Broad exposure across customers, products, regions and international operations
Our client is an established Australian business operating across manufacturing and distribution. With a focus on growth and continuous improvement, the organisation offers an opportunity to join a business where finance plays a key role in commercial decision-making.
Reporting to the CFO, this newly created Commercial Analyst role will sit at the intersection of finance and the wider business.
You will turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights that help leaders make better decisions. This is not a traditional month-end accounting role — you'll work closely with Sales, Supply Chain and other stakeholders to understand business performance, identify opportunities and drive improvements.
The role offers broad exposure across customers, products, channels, regions, entities and currencies, with a focus on profitability, margin, cash flow and commercial decision-making.
Analyse performance across customers, products, channels, regions and entities to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
Develop and automate reporting across revenue, gross margin, costs, cash flow and profitability.
Provide commercial analysis to support pricing, tenders, contracts, investments and business cases.
Partner with Sales and Supply Chain to improve commercial performance and business outcomes.
Monitor customer and contract profitability, identifying margin leakage and opportunities to improve returns.
Develop forecasts, scenario analysis and cash flow reporting to support decision-making.
Monitor foreign currency exposures and support hedging activities.
Build dashboards and management reports that clearly communicate key business performance drivers.
Improve financial data quality, reporting consistency and process efficiency.
Identify opportunities to automate and simplify finance and broader business processes.
Provide constructive challenge to business leaders and elevate material commercial, liquidity, control or compliance risks to the CFO.
You will be a CA or CPA qualified accountant with at least two years' commercial accounting experience and a strong interest in understanding what drives business performance.
You'll be commercially curious, comfortable with ambiguity and confident working directly with non-finance stakeholders. Previous experience in a private equity-backed business is not essential.
You will bring:
CA or CPA qualification.
2+ years' commercial or management accounting experience.
Strong financial modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis and cash flow skills.
Experience analysing profitability and explaining performance drivers to business leaders.
Exposure to commercial decisions involving pricing, tenders, contracts, investments or business cases.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with a large ERP system such as SAP, Pronto, Oracle or similar.
A track record of improving reporting, processes, automation or data quality.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate financial information into clear recommendations.
High attention to detail, sound commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively.
Experience across sales, distribution, inventory or product-led businesses, as well as exposure to foreign exchange, hedging, multiple entities or international operations, would be highly regarded.
