Michael Page Australia partners with a Brisbane-based growth story in engineering, property and construction, seeking a Commercial Finance Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning. This standalone role offers future scale to a wider team and exposure to senior stakeholders.

You will build models, automate reporting, and deliver insights to drive strategic decisions, partnering with leaders to identify opportunities and improve profitability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or similar analytical roles.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and driver-based modelling within project environments.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI including data modelling and automated reporting workflows.
• Excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.

About Our Client

We are pleased to partner with a Brisbane-based success story that is expanding capability in their team. The group has a range of business interests that broadly fall into the engineering, property and construction category, and whereas many other businesses of this scale have Head Offices in Melbourne or Sydney, this business has kept the corporate engine room right here in Brisbane. The business can boast size and scale in revenue, headcount and project portfolio but they aren't done yet. The Commercial Finance Manager role will be central to continuing that growth story.

Job Description

The Commercial Finance Manager position is a newly created role, that will stand alone with potential in the future to expand to a wider team. Key responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Build financial models and perform scenario analysis.
• Develop automated reporting, dashboards and KPI frameworks.
• Deliver insights to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
• Partner with leaders to drive performance and identify opportunities.
• Prepare executive reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Analyse profitability, cash flow and key business drivers.
• Maintain reporting accuracy, governance and data integrity.
• Drive automation, standardisation and continuous improvement across finance processes.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for the Commercial Finance Manager role should be:

• CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification
• Able to show 5 years + experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or similar analytical roles
• Strong in budgeting, forecasting, and driver-based financial modelling, ideally within project-based environment.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI capability, including Power Query, data modelling and experience automating reporting workflows across large or complex data sets
• An excellent communicator, comfortable speaking with the most senior stakeholders
