ThompsonCook is seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our Melbourne team in the eastern suburbs on a permanent full-time basis. The role offers hybrid working arrangements and exposure to performance reporting, FP&A and commercial analysis, turning data into actionable insights for leaders.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will produce month-end reports, analyse variances, and build financial models while communicating clearly with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

Qualifications

• Degree in commerce, business, accounting or finance with CA/CPA desirable.
• 2+ years’ experience in commercial finance, FP&A or management reporting.
• Strong Excel skills with experience building and maintaining financial models.
• Solid accounting knowledge and understanding of P&L and its drivers.
• Experience in disability, aged care, NDIS or labour-intensive services valued.
• Clear communication with non-finance audiences and continuous improvement mindset.

The Opportunity Our client is a well established Australian disability and community services provider.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, with exposure to the Financial Controller, CFO and Senior Management Team, this role will turn financial and operational data into timely reporting and insight that helps leaders make better decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong data skills and initiative who enjoys explaining the numbers to finance and non-finance stakeholders, and who wants broad exposure across reporting, planning, commercial analysis and the month end close.

The Challenge

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing month end performance reporting by stream, program and entity, and explaining variances to budget and forecast
• Producing weekly reporting on financial and non financial drivers such as hours delivered, utilisation, occupancy and labour cost

  The Expertise

  Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

  • Degree in commerce, business, accounting or finance, with CA/CPA (completed or in progress) desirable
  • 2+ years’ experience in commercial finance, FP&A or management reporting
  • Strong Excel skills, with experience building and maintaining financial models
