Charterhouse is partnering with a growing organisation in Brisbane to recruit a commercially minded accountant aiming to become a Finance Business Partner. You will analyse performance, support project outcomes and provide insights guiding strategic decisions alongside senior management.

The role offers a clear pathway to a Finance Business Partner position, with exposure to operational leaders, project managers and executives, and a strong emphasis on professional growth within the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA or CPA qualified, or actively working towards it.
• 3-5 years' experience in accounting, management accounting or commercial finance.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• A proactive, commercially focused mindset.
• Project-based industry experience (construction, engineering, infrastructure or services), project accounting, Power BI and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting.
• Monitor business unit and project financial performance.
• Provide commercial analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Support project managers with profitability, forecasting and cost control.
• Deliver management reporting, KPI dashboards and variance analysis.
• Identify risks, opportunities and margin improvement initiatives.
• Support month-end reporting, governance and financial controls.

The opportunity

Step beyond traditional accounting and become a trusted advisor to operational and project leaders. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll analyse business performance, support project outcomes and provide the insights that shape strategic decisions. You'll work closely with operational leaders, project managers and senior management, with a clear pathway to a Finance Business Partner role.
