Job summary

The Shadbolt Group is seeking an experienced Coded Welder to join our Sydney operations. This permanent, full-time role involves welding and fabrication across complex engineering projects for Defence and infrastructure sectors.

You will read drawings, follow welding procedures, and perform high-quality welds on carbon and stainless steel with MIG/MAG, TIG, FCAW or MMA processes. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Welding required.
• Australian Citizen (defence related work)
• Demonstrated experience as a coded welder.
• Current welding qualifications/codings across multiple procedures.
• Strong experience with MIG/MAG, TIG, FCAW and/or MMA.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specs.
• Understanding of welding procedures, tolerances and quality requirements.
• Attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality welding across multiple processes and procedures.
• Work to approved welding procedures, specifications and quality requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld maps and specifications.
• Carry out structural and complex fabrication to a high standard.
• Carry out visual inspections ensuring weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Work with carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment.
• Collaborate with tradespeople, supervisors, project teams and clients.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, quality and environmental requirements.
