Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking a Coal Mining Operator for Blackwater Mine in Queensland. You will report to the Coal Team and safely operate mining equipment to deliver daily production targets on a lifestyle roster with day and night shifts.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, reporting faults, and working closely with Supervisors to maintain safe operations and a productive team environment at one of Bowen Basin's significant mining sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating mining equipment in open-cut mining, specifically Haul Trucks.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.
• Ability to follow instructions with sound judgement and situational awareness.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Good communication with Supervisors and site personnel.

The Opportunity

As a Coal Mining Operator, you will report to the Coal Team and play an important role in safely delivering production targets and maintaining the efficient operation of the mine.

Your responsibilities are as follows:

• Safely operating a range of mining equipment in accordance with site procedures and standards
• Contributing to the safe and efficient production of coal
• Conducting pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults, hazards and potential operational issues
• Working closely with Supervisors and fellow Operators to achieve daily production targets

About You - You will demonstrate:

• A strong commitment to safety, environmental standards and safe work practices
• Previous experience (minimum 2 years) operating Mining Equipment in an open-cut mining environment specifically Haul Trucks.
• Your experience using Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Graders and Water Carts is highly regarded but not essential.
• The ability to follow instructions while using sound judgement and maintaining situational awareness
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and a strong work ethic
• A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a respectful and productive workplace
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Operators, Supervisors and other site personnel
• A commitment to achieving production targets without compromising safety or quality
