Job summary

Whitehaven Coal’s Blackwater operation is seeking a Coal Mining Operator to join a lifestyle roster featuring day and night shifts. You will report to the Coal Team and contribute to safe production and efficient mine operation.

With a minimum of two years’ experience in open-cut mining (haul trucks preferred), you will work with Supervisors and Operators to meet daily targets, uphold safety standards, and foster a respectful, productive team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating mining equipment in open-cut environments, specifically Haul Trucks.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.
• Excellent teamwork and ability to follow instructions with good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a range of mining equipment in accordance with site procedures and standards
• Contribute to the safe and efficient production of coal
• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
• Identify and report equipment faults, hazards and potential operational issues
• Work closely with Supervisors and fellow Operators to achieve daily production targets

The Opportunity

As a Coal Mining Operator, you will report to the Coal Team and play an important role in safely delivering production targets and maintaining the efficient operation of the mine.
Your responsibilities are as follows:

• Safely operating a range of mining equipment in accordance with site procedures and standards
• Contributing to the safe and efficient production of coal
• Conducting pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults, hazards and potential operational issues
• Working closely with Supervisors and fellow Operators to achieve daily production targets
• Supporting a positive and respectful team environment

About You - You will demonstrate:

• A strong commitment to safety, environmental standards and safe work practices
• Previous experience (minimum 2 years) operating Mining Equipment in an open-cut mining environment specifically Haul Trucks.
  Your experience using Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Graders and Water Carts is highly regarded but not essential.
• The ability to follow instructions while using sound judgement and maintaining situational awareness
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and a strong work ethic
• A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a respectful and productive workplace
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Operators, Supervisors and other site personnel
• A commitment to achieving production targets without compromising safety or quality
