Job summary

nib Group is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer for a 12 month fixed term contract in Australia. You will build, manage and evolve our Azure-based cloud infrastructure to be secure, scalable and highly available, partnering with delivery teams to support modern app development and continuous delivery.

You will automate with Terraform and CDK, leverage cloud-native services, and implement CI/CD to provision environments, strengthen security and drive reliability and disaster recovery capabilities.

Job description

This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract as a Cloud Platform Engineer.

You'll play a hands‑on role in building, managing and evolving our cloud infrastructure to ensure it is secure, scalable and highly available. Working closely with delivery teams, you'll design and implement cloud solutions that support modern application development, continuous delivery and business growth.

You'll leverage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CDK), cloud‑native services and automation to provision and optimise environments across Azure. From strengthening security controls and enhancing platform performance to improving reliability, monitoring and disaster recovery capabilities, you'll be at the centre of creating a cloud platform that enables teams to deliver with confidence.

This is an opportunity to work on complex cloud challenges, influence best practice across engineering teams, and help shape the future of our cloud capability through continual improvement, innovation and automation.

About you

We're looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering or software development, and a passion for building secure, scalable and reliable cloud environments. You'll bring strong Azure expertise, coupled with experience in infrastructure automation, cloud‑native technologies and networking. Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall technologies, Prisma SASE and secure access architectures will help drive the delivery of modern, cloud‑first networking and security capabilities across the enterprise.

You'll be comfortable using Infrastructure as Code, scripting and CI/CD tools to automate deployments, improve efficiency and support business‑critical systems. Experience with technologies such as Terraform, CDK, Python, Bash or PowerShell will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you're a collaborative problem solver who enjoys working closely with development teams, championing cloud best practices, and continuously improving platform performance, security and reliability. Experience with monitoring, cloud security, backend systems and cloud orchestration tools such as CloudFormation will set you up for success in this role.
