Job summary

Perpetual Wealth in Sydney is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to bolster our cloud networking and security infrastructure. The role focuses on managing firewalls, SD-WAN, and cloud-based networking across multiple sites, with a strong emphasis on reliability and security.

You will collaborate with IT, DevOps and security teams to design scalable network architectures, implement governance, and maintain comprehensive network artefacts. Hybrid work is available; based in the Sydney CBD office.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in IT, preferably with networking focus.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE or Azure are a plus.
• Framework certifications such as ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT or TOGAF are desirable.
• Minimum 5 years' experience managing Check Point firewalls, Netskope appliances, Azure networking and SD-WAN (Meraki).
• Strong understanding of cloud-based networking concepts, architectures and technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure; AWS or GCP is a plus.
• Solid Linux and Windows operating system knowledge.
• Proficiency in routing and switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS.
• Good grasp of network security principles, encryption and access control.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage firewalls, appliances and network devices to enforce security policies.
• Deploy and manage SD-WAN products to optimise connectivity across locations.
• Monitor traffic, performance and security events; identify issues and vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with teams to design network architectures that meet business needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and provide user support.
• Maintain network security controls and protect against cyber threats.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams and configurations.
• Support projects; ensure designs align with standards and service strategies.
• Provide architecture oversight for key initiatives and governance forums.
• Develop artefacts for cloud environments (especially Microsoft).

About the Role

Join our dynamic team at Perpetual Wealth as a Cloud Network Engineer. You will bring a strong background in cloud-based networking concepts, technologies and solutions, with expertise in managing a variety of network security and optimisation tools. This is a crucial operations role supporting our network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, availability, security and performance.

• Configure and manage firewalls, appliances and other network devices to enforce security policies and optimise network traffic
• Deploy and manage SD-WAN network products, optimising connectivity and performance across distributed locations
• Monitor and analyse network traffic, performance and security events, identifying and mitigating potential issues and vulnerabilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network architectures that support business requirements and objectives
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, providing timely and effective support to end users and stakeholders
• Implement and maintain network security controls and protocols to protect against cyber threats and unauthorised access
• Develop and maintain accurate, complete network documentation, diagrams and configurations
• Support projects to ensure network solutions align with network service strategies, frameworks, policies and practices
• Provide architecture oversight for key projects and initiatives
• Develop network artefacts for cloud environments (especially Microsoft)
• Participate in design forums and architecture governance, providing guidance to ensure solution designs are implemented correctly and standards are adhered to
• Lead service lifecycle governance, maintaining network roadmaps and plans on behalf of the Technology Services Manager to ensure service lifecycle events are well managed
• Collaborate with ITSM and DevOps SMEs to create and maintain definitions and a catalogue of network services

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• A bachelor's degree in IT, preferably with a major in Networking
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Checkpoint CCSA, Checkpoint CCSE or Azure are a plus
• Framework certifications such as ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT, TOGAF or similar are highly desirable
• A minimum of 5 years' experience managing Checkpoint firewalls, Netskope appliances, Azure networking, Citrix ADCs and SD-WAN networks based on Meraki products
• A strong understanding of cloud-based networking concepts, architectures and technologies, including virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers and DNS
• Essential experience with Microsoft Azure; experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
• Proficiency in network routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs and MPLS
• A solid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including encryption, authentication and access control
