Job summary

The NSW Department of Education seeks a Cloud Engineer to provide specialist Azure, AWS and GCP expertise, provisioning, configuration and operation of cloud resources in line with departmental standards and business requirements.

Based in Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements, you will deploy resources, support Senior Cloud Engineers and deliver secure, scalable, cost-aware cloud solutions while maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in Azure, AWS and GCP cloud engineering and infrastructure support.
• Knowledge of secure, scalable and resilient cloud architecture, networking and security.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of cloud monitoring, governance, security and cost management.
• Commitment to Aboriginal Education Policy and NSW AECG partnerships.

• Salary ranges from $ 133,348 to $146,945 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

The Cloud Engineer provides specialist expertise in Azure/AWS and GCP Cloud relevant resources, to support the provisioning, configuration and operation of cloud resources in alignment with business requirements and departmental standards. This role contributes to the efficient and secure functioning of our Azure/AWS and GCP environments, supporting the organisation to harness the benefits of cloud services.

Key accountabilities

• Deploy and manage Azure, AWS and GCP cloud resources.
• Support Senior Cloud Engineers with delegated workloads and priorities.
• Provide technical advice and solution design for secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Work with security, architecture and delivery teams to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
• Monitor performance, resolve issues, improve automation and maintain technical documentation.

About you

• Experience with Azure, AWS and GCP cloud engineering and infrastructure support.
• Knowledge of secure, scalable and resilient cloud architecture, networking and security.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, including Terraform, ARM and CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of cloud monitoring, troubleshooting, governance, security and cost management.
• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

• Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
• Industry certification in relevant technologies and/or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education .
