Job summary

CareCone Group in Canberra, Australia seeks an experienced Cloud Architect/Engineer to design enterprise cloud platforms on Azure and M365. You will develop high-level architectures and guide engineers, ensuring alignment with whole-of-government standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions, drive CI/CD, automation, and support strategic cloud initiatives.

Initial contract duration : 12 months (with 2 extensions)

Key duties and responsibilities

Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:

• Develop enterprise level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365;
• Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems;
• Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers;
• Provide impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements;
• Ensure that the enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards;
• Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems;
• Liaise with a cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects & testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives;
• Liaise with the department’s Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations
• Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology.
• Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation – testing, continuous integration and deployment
• Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms – re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality
• Be strategic, a leader and influencer.
• Undertake additional duties as required.
• Cloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including: o Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management o Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments o Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights o Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM o Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control
• Cultural fit: Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels. Ability to collaborate and mentor team members to promote team harmony
• Agile: Experience working with Agile Multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen, and business expectations. Ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves
• Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies. The Cloud Architect/Engineer will: Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure. Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards
• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
• Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems. Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
