Job summary

The Kids Research Institute Australia is seeking a part-time nurse to support the Children’s Diabetes Centre at Perth-based Nedlands, delivering high standards of nursing care for research trials.

Role focuses on study management, participant recruitment, data collection, and adherence to ICH-GCP and CAHS standards, within a 0.4–0.6 FTE, 6-month contract, with flexible hybrid work options.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with AHPRA registration and passion for pediatric diabetes research.
  • Experience in hospital-based clinical settings and cannulation.
  • Knowledge of ethical issues in human participant research (ICH-GCP).
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility for shift work and varying hours.
  • Clinical research experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Care of participants at study visits and follow-ups.
  • Provide clinical support and assist with orientation/education of participants and caregivers.
  • Collect and handle biological samples appropriately.
  • Collect study data per ICH-GCP using paper or electronic forms.
  • Submit study documentation and report to Human Research Ethics Committee as required.

The Children’s Diabetes Centre has the vision to improve the lives of young people living with Diabetes through a multidisciplinary research program including team members based across The Kids and the Department of Endocrinology, Perth Children Hospital.


We now have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Children’s Diabetes Centre at The Kids Research Institute Australia.


In collaboration with the Clinical Research Team within the Centre, you will be responsible for delivery of high standard of nursing care as it relates to research using the Scope of Nursing Practice Decision Making Framework. This opportunity is to support Sponsor and Investigator initiated clinical trials in technology, medication and behavioural interventions, providing excellence of care to participants according to ICH GCP, and CAHS clinical standards. The role will be involved in all areas of study management, participant recruitment, sample and data collection and data entry.


Some of your duties will include but not be limited to:



  • Care of participants at study visits, and follow‑up care as required.

  • Providing clinical support and assisting with the direction, orientation and education of participants and caregivers.

  • Collection and appropriate handling of biological samples.

  • Study data collection as per ICH‑Good Clinical Practice guidelines using paper case report forms and/or electronic report forms.

  • Submission of study documentation and reporting to Human Research Ethics Committee as required.


Based within Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this part‑time role (0.4 – 0.6 FTE) will be offered for a 6‑month period.


About You

The ideal applicant will be a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of Children and families living with Diabetes. You will be self‑motivated, be driven by achieving project outcomes and will thrive working in a fast‑paced environment.


You Will Also Demonstrate The Following Skills And Experience


  • Hospital‑based clinical experience and cannulation experience.

  • Self‑directed in provision of patient/participant care.

  • Knowledge of ethical issues relating to the conduct of research involving human participants.

  • Experience in a multi‑disciplinary team approach to patient care.

  • Effective communication and organisational skills.

  • Flexibility in working hours - including shift work.

  • Clinical Research experience is desirable.
