Job summary

Calvary Riverina Surgicentre in Wagga Wagga, NSW, is seeking a Registered Nurse with ophthalmology perioperative experience to join our permanent full-time team. You will support the Perioperative Services Manager to drive excellence in patient-focused care through proactive leadership and quality planning.

Working with a multidisciplinary theatre team, you will educate staff, delegate tasks, maintain documentation, and participate in quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with ophthalmology perioperative experience.
• Current AHPRA registration and practising certificate.
• Ability to lead, educate and supervise a theatre team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care in complex nursing situations.
• Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Educate theatre staff in Ophthalmology perioperative skills.
• Delegate and supervise care according to competence.
• Maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation.
• Provide clinical support for education and skills-based training.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Work closely with Ophthalmology VMOs on preferences.
• Manage equipment, inventory and liaise with medical reps.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Registered Nurse to professionally develop their skills, knowledge and expertise in Ophthalmology surgery. Working collaboratively with all members of the peri-operative and broader hospital team, supporting the Perioperative Services Manager to facilitate excellence and quality in patient focused care, through proactive leadership and innovative strategic planning aligned to best practice in Ophthalmology.

Your main duties will include:

• Competence in basic nursing practice and providing direct care in more complex nursing care situations
• Collaborate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide education and training in Ophthalmology perioperative skills to the theatre team
• Delegate, direct & supervise aspects of care to others according to their competence and scope of practice
• Accurate and timely clinical and administration documentation.
• Provide clinical support for education, knowledge and skills-based training
• Actively participate in quality improvement activities and monitoring
• Work closely with Ophthalmology VMOs on preferences
• Management of equipment, inventory and key liaison with medical representatives/companies
• Commitment to ongoing professional development

About You

• Registration with AHPRA and in possession of a current practising certificate
• Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
• Has recent experience in Ophthalmology
• Demonstrated decision making and delegation skills
• Ability to work with key stakeholders
