Job summary

Darwin Private Hospital, part of Healthscope, seeks a Clinical Nurse Educator to join the peri-operative team in a privately operated hospital setting in the Northern Territory. The role emphasises clinical education, leadership and ongoing professional development for nursing staff.

Applicants must hold current AHPRA registration, postgraduate qualifications and experience in education, including eLearning.

Qualifications

  • Current AHPRA Registration.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in related specialty area.
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) (or working towards).
  • Educator experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms.
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on clinical education, support and facilitation to graduate nursing students.
  • Act as a clinical leader and mentor, fostering professional development and continuous learning within the nursing team.
  • Promote and champion evidence-based nursing practice to ensure high-quality patient care outcomes.
  • Support the implementation and dissemination of current best-practice knowledge and clinical standards.
  • Monitor and drive staff compliance with mandatory annual training requirements and e-learning modules.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support ongoing clinical education initiatives.
  • Participate in policy and procedure meetings, contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
  • Attend and actively contribute to ward meetings and bi-monthly education meetings.
  • Support a culture of safety, excellence and continuous improvement across the clinical environment.

About the role

Darwin Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Educator to join their established Peri-operative team.

About us

Darwin Private Hospital is the sole provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licensed 122-bed hospital offering a broad range of multiday and day surgery including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT, and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Our private hospital attracts patients from across the greater Northern Territory, Western Australia, remote Aboriginal communities and offshore. We are co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital and partner in delivering specialised care to patients from across the top end of Australia.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope Darwin Private Hospital - Nurses and Midwives - Enterprise Agreement 2024, with a salary of $64.27 per hour.
