Job summary

Calvary Mater Newcastle seeks a Clinical Coder to join the Health Information Services team. You will review and code inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI, contributing to data integrity and DRG/ABF outcomes.

Working independently in a supportive team, you will support coding quality initiatives, education programs and audits while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Recognition in ICD-10-AM & ACHI coding and Australian coding standards.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ clinical coding experience in tertiary or acute hospital.
• Strong medical terminology, confidentiality and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes accurately per standards and requirements.
• Ensure data completeness and accuracy for DRG and ABF outcomes.
• Meet throughput benchmarks while managing workloads and deadlines.
• Contribute to coding quality improvement and education activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and information security.
