Job summary

NSW Health seeks an Advanced Clinical Coder to accurately code complex inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM, ensuring high data quality and supporting ABF outcomes. You will contribute to the Coding Quality Plan, mentor junior coders, and participate in audits within the Western Sydney Local Health District.

The role requires extensive coding experience, deep DRG/ABF understanding, and strong attention to detail in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised Australian Clinical Coding qualification in ICD-10-AM.
• Extensive clinical coding experience across diverse specialties.
• Strong understanding of DRGs and Activity Based Funding (ABF).
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Analytical, able to interpret and report coding information.
• Adaptable, able to work independently and in a team.
• Proficient in common computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Code complex inpatient episodes accurately using ICD-10-AM.
• Support data quality initiatives and coding excellence across the District.
• Validate DRG allocations to support ABF and funding outcomes.
• Participate in coding quality audits and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior coders to build capability.
• Analyse documentation to identify opportunities to improve coding outcomes.
