Job summary

Calvary Mater Newcastle is recruiting a Clinical Coder to review and code inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI. You will support data integrity, DRG assignment, ABF outcomes, and reporting, within a collaborative Health Information Services team.

The role requires accurate coding, attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as in a team, contributing to education programs and audits. Flexible arrangements include remote options and full-time/part-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• recognised ICD-10-AM & ACHI coding qualification with Australian coding experience
• Minimum 2–3 years clinical coding experience in tertiary or acute hospital setting
• Medical terminology skills and proven attention to detail
• Demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of hospital information systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively
• Proven capability to work unsupervised and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes per standards and organisation requirements
• Ensure data is complete and accurate for DRG assignment and ABF outcomes
• Meet throughput benchmarks while managing workloads and deadlines
• Participate in coding education, quality review and service improvement activities
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy and information security per policy
