Job summary

Gold Coast Health is seeking a Clinical Coder to accurately code from patient records and systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with state and national standards. You will assign ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes and support DRG grouping under Queensland Health guidelines.

Involvement in education, evaluation, and auditing will help improve coding quality and clinical information management across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Coding or Health Information Management Bachelor mandatory.
  • Clinical coding experience in a hospital/healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • Criminal History Screening is required.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract relevant information from the electronic patient record and other clinical systems.
  • Assign ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes and perform DRG grouping per standards.
  • Participate in education activities and auditing within the Clinical Coding Service.
  • Follow Australian Coding Standards and Queensland Health guidelines within timeframes.

We also have a key role to play in research and innovation, in that our responsibilities will also include bringing external insight into the organisation for improvement.About Your New RoleIn this role as the Clinical Coder, you will leverage your expertise in clinical documentation analysis to assign accurate and timely clinical codes, ensuring data integrity and compliance with state and national standards.
