Job summary

Scale Suite is seeking a senior finance professional to own end-to-end client finance for a growing portfolio of Australian businesses. You will manage close, BAS, IAS, payroll oversight, and payment runs with direct client interaction, while providing fast responses to founders.

You’ll split time between Sydney client offices and remote work, delivering high-impact financial control. You will work across multiple clients, ensuring governance, compliance, and accurate financials, while expanding

• Lead payroll governance and multi-site payroll considerations.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of client books and reports.

About Scale Suite

Scale Suite runs the complete finance function for growing Australian businesses: daily operations, reporting and senior oversight, delivered as one embedded team our clients simply plug in. We deliberately do not operate like a practice. There are no timesheets here, no charge-out rates and no partner pyramid, and AI already does a large share of the grunt work, with an engineering team arriving soon to automate more. The role

You know this work already. The difference is depth. Instead of skimming across a wall of files, you own a handful of clients completely: the close, the compliance calendar, the payroll oversight, the payment runs, the relationship. Their founders message you, and you answer, directly and fast. Most of the week you meet clients wherever they are, in Australian hours; around one day a week you are in a client's Sydney office, depending on their needs. The rest of the team runs each client with you, and senior review is light-touch on your own book. You start on a live client from week one.

What you'll do

• Run your portfolio end to end: month-end, BAS and IAS, payroll oversight, payment runs, all lodged and released on time.
• Own the client relationship outright: questions, escalations and the judgement calls, handled by you.
• Bring new clients onto our rails: migrate their finance operation across and get it humming, whatever they arrive on.
• Take the interesting work when it lands: recent examples include a payroll governance rebuild across a multi-site workforce and standing up a US entity from nothing.
• Protect the standard: nothing leaves your book that you have not made right.

Who we're after

• CA or CPA, with three or more years personally owning Australian finance functions: close, BAS, payroll.
• Multi-client by instinct. You can hold several businesses in your head and switch between them without dropping anything.
• Plain-speaking with founders. They trust you fast because you talk about their business, not just their ledgers.
• Xero fluent and quick on unfamiliar systems.
• You use AI as a matter of course, you move fast, and you have zero time for politics.
• Building, not coasting. This suits someone whose biggest work is still ahead of them.

What this isn't

Not a sixty-file treadmill, not a timesheet factory, and not account management with the ledger done elsewhere. You own the numbers and the relationship together, which is the whole point.
