Job summary

STE Financial is a Tweed Coast accounting, tax, advisory and mortgage broking practice seeking a senior bookkeeper to lead a client group and advise owners and boards. You will work alongside partners, handling advanced bookkeeping, BAS/IAS, and monthly/year-end processes with a focus on quality and insight.

The role offers flexibility around where you work—office in Cabarita, your home, or a mix that changes weekly—and includes wellness perks, client referrals, and ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Senior bookkeeper with proven advanced level bookkeeping across multiple businesses.
• Minimum 3 years in public practice, accounting or bookkeeping.
• Solid grasp of double-entry accounting principles.
• A-grade Xero user; comfortable with AI to boost productivity.
• Experience integrating third-party apps (Dext, Hubdoc, Lightspeed, Deputy, Stripe, Square, Tradify).
• Organised, deadline-driven and able to work independently.

Job description

This is a senior bookkeeping role with high level work and staff supervision sitting alongside it. You will run your own client group, with the partners of the practice a message away when you want a second opinion. It would suit a senior bookkeeper who has been doing advanced level bookkeeping for several businesses for years and wants clients worth doing it for, or an accountant who enjoys advisory conversations but does not miss tax season and would happily step back into the books.

Key responsibilities

• Coding, data entry and bank reconciliations
• Payroll and superannuation processing
• BAS and IAS preparation, and peer review of other people's
• Year end workpapers
• Month end reporting and reconciliations
• Advisory work with clients including budgets and actual versus budget reporting, cashflow forecasting, KPI setting and analysis, project performance, and presenting results to owners and boards

About you

• A senior bookkeeper with the experience and knowledge to back it up, or a qualified accountant
• At least three years in public practice, either accounting or bookkeeping
• Solid grasp of double entry accounting
• Comfortable sitting across the table from a business owner and telling them something they might not want to hear
• A-Grade Superstar Xero user
• Loves utilising AI to expand our productivity and creativity
• Confident with Microsoft Excel
• Experience integrating third party apps such as Dext, Hubdoc, Lightspeed, Deputy, Stripe, Square, Tradify
• Organised, deadline driven, and happy working on your own steam
