Job summary

Fronditha Care is seeking Casual Cleaner/Laundry Assistants to join our Newcastle facility, helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents.

You will perform cleaning and laundry duties, support hygiene and infection control, and work flexibly across cleaning, laundry and general support services to assist the care team.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, laundry or similar support services in aged care is preferred.
• Understanding of infection control, hygiene and safe work practices is expected.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with high standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across all resident rooms and shared spaces.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting and waste management per schedules.
• Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Complete laundry duties including washing, drying, folding and distributing linen and residents' clothing.
• Label and return laundry items to residents; monitor linen quality and stock levels.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized laundry and cleaning area; adhere to PPE and safety procedures.
• Report hazards or faulty equipment to the coordinator; collaborate with team to ensure resident comfort.
• Participate in continuous improvement to enhance service quality.

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking Cleaner/Laundry Assistants to join our Fronditha Care team at our residential facility in Newcastle,playing a vital role in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our residents. This position is essential in supporting high standards of hygiene, infection control and overall service quality across our home.

You will be part of a supportive team delivering meaningful day-to-day services that directly contribute to the comfort, dignity and wellbeing of our elders.

We have casual opportunities available, ideal for those looking for flexibility across cleaning, laundry and general support services.

The day-to-day responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the facility, including resident rooms and shared spaces
• Perform cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and waste management in line with schedules and infection control standards
• Ensure cleaning equipment and chemicals are used and stored safely and in accordance with guidelines
• Complete all laundry duties including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linen and residents’ personal clothing
• Ensure all laundry items are handled with care, correctly labelled, and returned promptly to residents
• Monitor linen quality, report damaged items, and support stock control processes including recording and ordering supplies
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised laundry and cleaning environment at all times
• Follow all workplace health & safety procedures and use PPE as required
• Report hazards, faulty equipment, or incidents promptly to the Support Services Coordinator
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to support a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for residents
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality

What success looks like for this role

• Previous experience in cleaning, laundry, or similar support services role in aged care
• Understanding of infection control, hygiene, and safe work practices
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and a caring, respectful approach to working with elderly residents
• Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with policies and procedures
