Job summary

Star of the Sea Catholic College, George Town, Tasmania, is seeking a part-time Cleaner to support a clean, safe and instructionally welcoming environment for students. The role is 0.45 FTE with hours 2:00pm–5:00pm, ongoing.

The successful candidate will have experience in commercial cleaning, be able to work independently, and hold Working with Vulnerable People Registration and a current National Police Criminal History Check. WHA and manual handling knowledge are required.

• Assist with cleaning after incidents, weather events or vandalism.

The School Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, hygienic and safe environment for the school. This work directly supports student learning by ensuring classrooms, facilities and shared spaces are welcoming, well‑maintained and instructionally supportive.

Key responsibilities include:

• Sweep, vacuum and mop floors; use safety signage appropriately.
• Dust and wipe desks, tables, counters and high‑touch points.
• Clean accessible classroom and office fittings.
• Maintain windows and glass surfaces.
• Empty bins and assist with larger rubbish removal.
• Assist with cleaning after accidents, weather events or vandalism.
