Job summary

NQ Estimating & Civil Services in Cairns, Queensland, is seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor/Project Manager for a casual, on-site role. You will lead construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery to high-quality and safety standards.

You will coordinate site teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and maintain comprehensive project records, while keeping a proactive focus on health and safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day site operations and ensuring works align with project specs, plans and schedules
• Managing project timelines, budgets and resources for efficient delivery
• Supervising site teams, tradespeople, Labourers and sub-contractors
• Conducting regular site inspections to monitor quality and safety compliance
• Liaising with clients, architects, engineers and stakeholders for updates and variations
• Maintaining project documentation including daily reports and safety logs
• Identifying and resolving project issues and delays to minimise delivery impact
• Ensuring adherence to WHS obligations and company policies
• Managing site logistics, procurement and equipment to support execution

Job description

We are seeking an experienced civil Supervisor/Project Manager to join NQ Estimating & Civil Services in Cairns, Queensland. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing the opportunity to lead and oversee construction projects from conception through to completion. As Supervisor/Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is pivotal to our operations, ensuring seamless project execution and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

Overseeing day-to-day site operations and ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, plans and schedules

Managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery

Supervising and coordinating site teams, including tradespeople, labourers and sub-contractors

Conducting regular site inspections to monitor quality standards and compliance with health and safety regulations

Liaising with clients, architects, engineers and other stakeholders to provide updates and address any concerns or variations

Maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, progress records and safety logs

Identifying and resolving project issues and delays promptly to minimise impact on delivery

Ensuring strict adherence to workplace health and safety obligations and company policies

Managing site logistics, procurement and equipment to support efficient project execution

What we’re looking for

Proven experience in a supervisory or project management role within the construction industry

Must have a hands on attitude

Strong knowledge of construction practices, methods, materials and building codes

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail

Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and coordinate diverse teams

Sound understanding of health and safety regulations, including work cover requirements and incident reporting procedures

Strong communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors and stakeholders

Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings

Competence in budget management, cost control and resource allocation

A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Relevant qualifications or certifications in project management or construction supervision are highly desirable

Experience in Queensland construction projects would be advantageous

Must have experience in Drfa works and subdivisions

Must be willing to work away at times if required
