Job summary

Ausgrid is seeking a Civil Site Manager to lead safe, on-site construction across the Infrastructure Services portfolio. You will provide technical and construction management support to Project Managers and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, environmental, and contractual standards.

Based at Wallsend or Newcastle depots with travel to Central Coast, Hunter Valley, and surrounding sites. Requires relevant civil qualifications, licenses, and strong leadership to drive

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification in Construction/Civil with contractor management and project delivery experience.
• Current Class C Driver's Licence, Builder's Licence and Construction White Card.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and safe work practices.

• Manage and oversee on-site construction activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.
• Coordinate project resources, equipment, contractors, and network access requirements to meet objectives.
• Prepare, maintain, and report on project documentation, records, quality, safety, and compliance requirements.

• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external project partners.

• $141,314 base salary + 16.5% Superannuation | Required to be based on-site
• Receive a fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO) in support of work life balance
• Can be based at any of the following locations: Wallsend Depot or Newcastle Depot (with travel across Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Scone, Lake Macquarie and surrounding battery project sites)

The Civil Site Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of construction projects across the Infrastructure Services portfolio. The role provides technical and construction management expertise to Project Managers and contractors, ensuring projects are executed in accordance with safety, quality, environmental, community, and contractual requirements. Through effective site leadership, contractor oversight, and stakeholder coordination, the position supports successful project outcomes, operational readiness, and value-for-money delivery of infrastructure assets.

Your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Manage and oversee on-site construction activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.
• Coordinate project resources, equipment, contractors, and network access requirements to meet project objectives.
• Prepare, maintain, and report on project documentation, records, quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance activities to support operational and regulatory standards.
• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external project partners.

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

• Relevant trade qualification in Construction/Civil (or related discipline), supported by construction, contractor management, and project delivery experience.
• Current Class C Driver's Licence, Builder's Licence, and Construction White Card.
• Strong construction and technical knowledge, including construction methods, engineering drawings, quality assurance, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated safety leadership with sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, permit systems, and safe work practices.
• Experience in project and contract management, including planning, scheduling, contractor performance, progress claims, and budget management.
• Well-developed communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, organisational, and digital skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Clerk of Works Certificate.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
