Job summary

Water Corporation in Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a Civil Operator to help maintain water quality across the Goldfields region. The role blends civil operator duties with support for a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson, including site planning, safety focus, and routine maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure.

You will travel regionally, join an on-call roster, and receive full training for chlorine handling and the National Water Package Cert III.

Qualifications

• WA 'C' Class driver’s licence (minimum) — HR Class desirable.
• Experience in civil work and/or water supply systems.
• Certificate III in National Water Package (or willingness to undertake the traineeship).

Responsibilities

• Safely planning and contributing to daily job discussions and site inspections.
• Prioritising safety in every task, with a zero-harm mindset.
• Operating, maintaining, monitoring, and repairing water and wastewater infrastructure.
• On-call roster and overtime availability.
• Chlorine cylinder changes at pump stations, including hazardous gas handling with breathing apparatus (Full training provided).
• Using specialist tools, plant and equipment for operation and maintenance tasks.
• Assisting with fabrication and maintenance of Water Corporation assets.
• Bolting and unbolting pipe fittings, structures and components.
• Traveling throughout the region with a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson, including regular on-site work along the Golden Pipeline.
• Supporting field safety requirements and safe work environments for the welder.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role is a unique blend of Civil Operator duties and support for a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson. Your work will include:

• Safely planning and contributing to daily job discussions and site inspections.
• Prioritising safety in every task, working with a zero‑harm mindset.
• Operating, maintaining, monitoring, and repairing water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Participating in an on‑call roster and being available for overtime when required.
• Completing chlorine cylinder changes at pump stations, including hazardous gas handling using breathing apparatus. (Full training of National Water Package Cert III provided.)
• Using specialist tools, plant and equipment for operation and maintenance tasks.
• Assisting with fabrication and maintenance of Water Corporation assets.
• Bolting and unbolting pipe fittings, structures and components.
• Travelling throughout the region with a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson, including regular onsite work along the Golden Pipeline.
• Supporting field safety requirements, including helping manage safe work environments for the welder.

This role suits someone who:

• Has strong problem‑solving skills and a practical mindset.
• Enjoys working in a small, supportive team while being comfortable working independently.
• Can quickly familiarise themselves with regional layouts, pump stations and pipeline networks.
• Is flexible and comfortable working both on‑site and in workshop environments.
• Holds a valid WA "C" Class driver’s licence (HR licence desirable).
